The month of August is filled with summer swimming, afternoon barbecues, and the last minute summer homework that never got done because of procrastination. As a frequent victim of this, I've found that sitting down and writing out a to-do list is the best course of action. It is easy and fun to cross off items on the list and when everything is done you feel a sense of accomplishment. This also gives you more free-time to do other things like hang out with friends or binge The Office on Netflix(something I typically do).
With all that goes on in your life, it's helpful to have some quiet time to think and appreciate everything you do or have. Tell your family how much they mean to you or take your dog on that walk you talk about, but never actually do. Whatever you decide to do, make it meaningful. For all of you looking for service ideas some great things to do in August/September, especially with the start of school are helping out freshman or new students in hallways. Maybe your community garden needs a little pruning or your local food shelf needs some more resources as they prepare for the new school year. One thing that my town normally puts on is a backpack drive. Donating used books or school supplies to a place near you can help a lot. Remember that hunger, homelessness, and poverty don't really have a face. Everyone deserves to learn, eat, or have a place to live. Next blog post is due the end of September! Tune back in for birthday gift ideas, sweater weather fun, Pumpkin spiced activities, and many more exciting announcements!
