Mission: Educate and highlight opportunities for youth to go into their own community and find ways to be of service. Appreciating what we all have, but also recognizing what others might not.
About YouthComm:
YouthComm is a resource for finding ways to serve in your own community. Created by a Girl Scout working on her Gold Award, the site aims to highlight her own challenges and success with community service.
Deacon Gary Griffin Memorial Learning Center:
A decrepit building gets turned into a brand new learning environment for the youth of Our Lady of Good Help Church. Mold and mildew, rotten wood and paper was removed and old walls became murals and new bookcases. Through hard work and communication, the space was made safe and usable for the entire parish to use.
Green Mountain Day Camp Book Drive:
A week of Girl Scout camp was made into a week of competition and fun as the units ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade collected books to give to the Brandon Area Toy Project. Making a book drive is easy and fun as long as you get in touch with a foundation or charity that is willing to distribute them. Book drives can help a child in need of a book and education as well as adults. Foundations like Books Through Bars and the Imagination Library focus on trying to help both children and adults.
